| CII takes up initiative to stem online fraud | | | BS Reporter / Chennai/ Bangalore March 15, 2008 | | | |
| Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has announced a collaboration with Indian Computer Energency Response Team (Cert-In) and 10 banks to conduct a nation-wide information secuirity awareness campaign, starting from April 28, in six cities across the country.
| | | | Speaking at the conference on ‘Employee frauds’, organised here today by Indiaforensic and Pinkerton Consulting and Investigations, CII chief information officer Vikram Tiwathia said the campaign will focus on educating youth about phishing (sourcing of personal information on the internet using social engineering techniques) and spam (unsolicited mails).
| | | | “Raising trust in computing is very important. Enhancing collaboration between the industry and end-users is very important as internet-related frauds continue to increase,” Tiwathia said.
| | | | The campaign will be held in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Chandigarh and Bangalore.
| | | | CII joins IT industry body Nasscom in this initiative to ward off bad practices in this high growth sector. Of late, companies like Wipro and Infosys have taken significant initiatives to weed out applicants using fake resumes. | | | | | |
