Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today said the Union Budget was "not up to expectations" and "promises are many but no resources to meet them."
Talking to reporters after the presentation of the budget by finance minister P Chidambaram, the former PM said: "It is a mixed budget and inflation would only increase. I don't think the nation's economy would improve. Many programmes launched by the NDA have been only repackaged."
Vajpayee said the budget was "absolutely silent" on the highways and the Golden Quadrilateral project launched by the previous government.
