| Mahajan attacks Gujral doctrine | | | / BSCAL October 02,1997 | | | |

BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan yesterday urged the United Front government to abandon the Gujral doctrine and think of giving a befitting reply to Pakistan on the battlefield.
In a statement condemning the unprovoked Pakistani shelling of Kargil town in which 17 civilians were killed and several injured, Mahajan asserted what Ppakistan needs is a befitting reply not only on the cricket field, but on the battlefield. The time has come for this, he said.
The BJP MP described the Gujral doctrine as soft and one-sided love with Pakistan which, he felt, was preventing India from rising to the occasion.
He said +what india needs is a strong government in new delhi instead of the weakened gujral government to tackle such situations+.
The central government must get wise about pakistans +double tongued policy which offered no-war pact with india at the u n general assembly session recently and attacked indian borders almost as a daily routine+. Pti cds mb va kvv
