| TVS sales rise 34% in Dec |

Two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company has reported a 34 per cent increase in its sales in December 2009.
The company reported a net sales of 1.19 lakh units in December 2009 against 89,285 units a year ago, a company release said here today.
The company's cumulative growth showed a 10 per cent increase in sales of 11.09 lakh units upto December 2009 compared to 10.06 lakh nits in the same period of previous year.
The domestic sales of the company registered an increase of 42 per cent growth with sales of 1.02 lakh units in December 2009 as against 72,355 units in the corresponding period of the previous year, it said.
Motorcycle sales also grew by 24 per cent in sales registering 49,560 units in December 2009 as compared to 40,057 units in December 2008.
The sales of scooters also grew by 45 per cent registering a sales of 21,566 units as compared to 14,912 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.
On the exports, the company recorded a marginal increase of two per cent registering a sales of 17,222 units in December 2009 compared to 16,930 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.
On the company's first "auto-clutch" two wheeler TVS Jive, which was made available in Tamil Nadu in December 2009, the company said it had received good response from the market and the vehicle would be available across the country in a phased manner from this month.
The sales of three wheelers also witnessed a three-fold increase in December as the company sold 1,212 units as against 321 units in December 2008.
Cumulative three wheeler sales for the period April to December 2009 stood at 8,707 units, it said.
During the month, the company launched TVS King ZS, an environmental friendly 200cc four stroke CNG auto-rickshaw for the New Delhi and National Capital Region.
