Ramdev to set up mega food park at Haridwar

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who has been campaigning against aerated drinks, will be setting up an mega food park at Haridwar with processing units mainly manufacturing juices, herbal products and fruit pulp.

The park expected to attract investments to the tune of Rs 500 crore is being developed by a company promoted by the well-known Yoga guru.

 
In the first phase, factories for processing juices of bottlegourd, bittergourd, carrot, Amla, Aloe Vera, mint, tulsi, tomato, cucumber and wheat grass are proposed to be established, said an official of Patanjali Yog Peeth, an institution established by Ramdev.

He has been promoting the ethnic food in his camps.

The foundation of the Patanjali Food and Herbal Park Ltd is scheduled to be laid on February 25 by Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Subodh Kant Sahai.

The park, spread over 95 acres of land will be a boon for the growers of these fruits and vegetables Acharya Bal Krishna of Patanjali Yog Peeth said. The growers will also be trained how to grow Amla and Aloe Vera crops on barren lands he said.

In his largely attended yoga camps, Ramdev has consistently been opposing aerated drinks.
