Raju needs continuous treatment for six weeks: NIMS
BS Reporter / Chennai/ Hyderabad Mar 12, 2010, 00:04 IST

Satyam Computer Services Limited founder B Ramalinga Raju needs continuous treatment as in-patient for four to six more weeks as he carries a very high risk for morbidity, according to Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) professor and head of gastroenterology department Dr Ajit Kumar.

Raju, the prime accused in Satyam scam, is suffering from Hepatitis C and is being treated at NIMS. Citing his treatment, he did not appear before the special court when summoned. Following this, the court asked NIMS to submit a status report on Raju's health condition.

Though NIMS submitted a report last week, the court categorically asked the hospital if Raju was in a position to attend the court in person. Following this, NIMS again submitted a report saying Raju needed continuous treatment.

The NIMS doctors initially said Raju required 6-8 weeks' treatment but it is now over four months since he is in the hospital, the Central Bureau of Investigation, probing the case, pointed out. Special judge BVLN Chakravarti posted the matter for March 18.

Meanwhile, the court also extended the judicial remand of all the 10 accused till March 18.
