Power Grid Corporation of India today announced that it board of directors had approved an investment of Rs 1,600 crore in various system strengthening schemes across the country.

The company will pump in Rs 276 crore for System Strengthening - X in the Southern Regional Grid and the project will be commissioned within 28 months from the date of investment approval.Another Rs 1,216.83 crore will be invested for system strengthening in the northern region for Sasan and Mundra Ultra Mega Power Projects.

The company will also invest around Rs 109.72 crore in for Northern Region System Strengthening Scheme - XXIII.
