Please don't stop the music
Neha Bhatt / New Delhi Feb 15, 2009, 00:11 IST

Mahesh GuptaHe’s an avid reader of tech magazines and devours all of the tech tips that are shown on the tube. Now, Mahesh Gupta, chairman of Kent RO Systems, is waiting to get his hands on the latest Lenovo Ultralite X300 Notebook, while displaying great affection for his iPod Nano even after all these years.

Name one of your buys that you regret spending a lot of money on.
Gizmos always had been my fetish, so I don’t think there have been any gadgets that I regret buying. I always buy them for their usability and not on impulse and my investments have always been fruitful in this regard.

Who’s your one-stop gizmo guru?
My son Varun gives me the entire lowdown on the geeky stuff that comes out in the market. All my technological possessions are thanks to him.

Is there a gadget that you are waiting to buy?
Right on top of my wish list is the latest Lenovo Ultralite X300 Notebook with 13.3-inch LED backlit 1440X900 screen, an ultralight 2.5 pound form factor, Intel Merom Santa Rosa Dual Core CPU, a 64 GB SSD. I’m looking forward to it.

Tell us about a gizmo that is a stress buster.
My iPod Nano which can hold 8 GB of entertainment. This gizmo, gifted to me by my son, provides me relief in high-pressure situations and the traffic in the city.

What gizmo do you think is highly overrated?
The iPhone. For me it will always be just a phone and can never replace the iPod on its pedestal.

Has a gadget ever proved to be a lifesaver?
My BlackBerry Bold has some unique features and its vast contact storage memory, GPS and BlackBerry Maps have really helped. One major feature is Wifi, which lowers the cellular costs and provides service in areas where cellular network coverage may be limited or unavailable. There are a lot of features in the BlackBerry that have helped me tide away a lot of bad times.

What gadget would be a better companion than an iPod?
I don’t think there can be a better companion than the iPod because it has the best available features.

Name a gadget that you think should be banned
All gadgets simplify life in one way or the other. So, one gadget which might be a boon for someone could be a bane for someone else.
