BS Reporter / Mumbai Jan 20, 2012, 14:05 IST

The DSC Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF 2012), the largest literary gathering in India, has for the first time in its five year history opened up registrations online and partnered with KyaZoonga.com, the country’s largest online ticketing company, for the registrations process.

Over 70,000 participants from as many as 30 countries are expected to register for this literary extravaganza. Participants and delegates are thronging online on KyaZoonga.com to book their spots for the festival that features world-renowned authors and speakers such as Oprah Winfrey, Fatima Bhutto, Shashi Tharoor, Gulzar, Deepak Chopra and Prasoon Joshi.

This year the festival will focus on a variety of issues including burning topics such as the Arab Spring and Anna, Bhakti and Sufi traditions, Gandhi, Ambedkar vegetarianism, censorship, writing from conflict zones, theatre and other issues.

The annual festival is being held at the heritage property Diggi Palace in Jaipur from January 20-24, 2012 and will play host to over 200 speakers from across the globe.

Prominent authors who have confirmed their presence at the 5th DSC Jaipur Literature Festival 2012 include Arvind Krishna Mehrotra, Amish Tripathi, Ben Okri, CP Deval, David Hare, David Remnick, Deepak Chopra, Fatima Bhutto, Gulzar, Hari Kunzru, Helen Fielding, Jamaica Kincaid, James Schapiro, Jason Burke, Javed Akhtar, Lakshmi Sharma, Mahesh Dattani, Michael Ondaatje, Mohamed Hanif, Pavan Varma, Piyush Daiya, Prasoon Joshi, Purushottam Agrawal, Rahul Bhattacharya, Rabi Thapa, Ranjit Hoskote, Shyam Jahangid, Simon Sebag Montefiore, Tahmima Anam, Thant Mynt-U, Tom Stoppard and Zoe Heller.

Festival Producer, Sanjoy Roy said, “In keeping with our tradition of being an avant-garde festival, we are extremely pleased to reach out to our fans and participants online through KyaZoonga.com. We are overwhelmed to see the response we’ve received over the last several weeks and are projecting a sell-out crowd for JLF2012. KyaZoonga.com’s stellar track record as the online destination for tickets and registrations in India, coupled with their on-ground experience with large international events make them the ideal partner for an event like ours that reaches out to people across the globe.”

Speaking about the partnership, Neetu Bhatia, Co-Founder and CEO of KyaZoonga.com said, “It is a privilege to be taking the Jaipur Literature Festival online for the very first time and we are excited by the tremendous response we have seen so far. Our mission of democratizing access to premier events in India and around the world continues with this path-breaking online registration process for a festival of this repute and scale.”
