The article “Unravelling India: growth bottlenecks” (January 31) correctly pointed out the growth bottlenecks that India faces and the suggestions it made are laudable.
Its worth noting, however, that since most states are headed by corrupt politicians, decentralising more power from the Centre may not really prove effective. It will pave way for more corruption in many of the states. Coalition politics in India, too, hinders growth plans and the best example in this context would be the decision to turn down foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail.
Indeed the major growth bottlenecks are inefficient and corrupt politicians and the prevailing coalition politics system.
