ISB keen on Aiesec members
BS Reporter / Chennai/ Hyderabad Aug 27, 2010, 00:14 IST

“I would like to take as many as we can, said Ajit Rangnekar, dean of the Indian School of Business (ISB), while experiencing the youthful energy, enthusiasm and a whole lot of cheer brought in by the Aiesec (Association Internationale des Étudiants en Sciences Économiques et Commerciales) members to his campus on Thursday.

“See the energy levels of these people. They are just amazing. We have been working with Aiesec for more than five years. It shares the same values that we do – entrepreneurship, diversity, leadership and corporate responsibility. Globalisation is an important factor for us. We think that these are the people who have the track record of really doing something good,” he said.

In the last five years, three Aiesec members had worked with the ISB as interns, while at least 30 others from the student organisation passed out from the B-school during the same time.

“We are far more interested in getting them as students. We know their leadership qualities, discipline and the kind of mind that we want. We are happy to take them. However, relationship is not formed in one day. It takes a long time. Hopefully, they will think of joining us,” Rangnekar said.

ISB extends three scholarships — the ISB-Aiesec Scholarship – to Aiesec members and alumni (non-Indian passport holding applicants) every year, who hail from diverse back-grounds and demonstrate natural leadership abilities in line with its vision to groom future leaders for the world.

“Through this programme, members who qualify for admission for a postgraduate programme in management at the ISB can avail of a 50 per cent scholar-ship on their tuition fee, which works out to roughly $20,000,” an ISB spokesperson said.
