The Indian exhibitors, who displayed their wares at the pavilion organised by India Trade Promotion Organisation, were upbeat at the end of the show and said they plan to follow up on several leads they have got.

Over 1,200 business leaders, a large number of them from South America, visited the Indian pavilion during the three-day show.

Several exhibitors said the response from business leaders and buyers came as a pleasant surprise especially in view of economic woes.

But some exhibitors had actually expected a better than usual results this year. “When economy is downhill, people do not buy new cars but run their old cars. Logically therefore, aftermarket auto components should be more in demand,” one of them said.

The range of products displayed by the participating companies included suspension parts, exhaust systems, automotive horns, lamps, sensors, cylinder liners, V-belts, serpentlne belts, oil filling equipment, electrical auto parts, engine parts, sheet metal products, precision castings, valves, starter motors, brass compression fittings, chassis parts and piston rings.

Exhibitors in India Pavilion included Fenner India, Hero Exports, Jagan Lamps, Roots Industries, Crown Gaskets, Alfa Flexitubes, Auto seal and Rubber Industries, some of whom are also original equipment suppliers to auto manufacturers.
