| Incap focusing on wind power projects | |

Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited (Incap) is currently focusing on developing viable models for harnessing an estimated potential of 2,000 Mw of wind energy in the state.
“We are tying up with international agencies for the promotion of wind and solar power projects in the state and developing appropriate models in this regard,” Incap vice-chairman and managing director, KV Reddy, told Business Standard.
He said Incap was focusing on the non-conventional energy sector as the state’s utilisation of its wind power potential was much less compared with the utilisation levels in the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
At present, the total installed capacity of wind power in Andhra is 121.34 Mw as against 3,459.4 Mw in Tamil Nadu, 1,480.3 Mw in Maharashtra and 845.02 Mw in Karnataka.
With a project development fund of Rs 6 crore, Incap has been set up to stimulate growth through infrastructure development and facilitate operations by contracting with government and private entities to provide necessary advisory and consultancy services. It has the mandate to carry out the functions of project identification, preparation, partnership management and project implementation.
According to Reddy, the corporation has an agreement with IDFC and IFC based on a “success fee model”. Under this model, detail projects reports will be prepared and the fee will be collected only when a developer takes it up for execution.
Major projects currently being handled by Incap include the AP International Centre (AP Bhavan) in Delhi, city gas distribution network, express link from city centre to the new international airport at Shamshabad, regional airports and inland waterways project.
