The Income Tax (I-T) department's collections in the Mumbai Zone from multiple sources has touched Rs 34,610 crore in the current fiscal so far and it is confident of meeting the overall target of Rs 1.50 lakh crore for the year.
The Mumbai I-T Zone, the highest contributor to the national exchequer amongst all the tax zones in the country, has already achieved almost 23 per cent of its target for collection of Rs 1,50,480 crore in taxes during the current fiscal, an official release from the department said today.
The department has also issued Rs 9,683 crore in refunds during the current year, up 45 per cent, it said.
Advance Tax collections have risen by 22 per cent this year, while TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) has fallen by 2 per cent due to downward rationalisation of TDS rates and an upward revision of the threshold limit, it said.
