Himalaya Optical forays in Gujarat with 3 stores

Kolkata-based retail company in the vision care business, Himalaya Optical has forayed into Gujarat with the simultaneous launch of three exclusive stores in Ahmedabad. In the next two years, the company intends to open more stores in other cities of Gujarat like Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat.

Part of the company’s phase one plans in Gujarat, the new stores in Ahmedabad will offer an array of frames and sunglasses from around 1,000 styles of over 500 brands including the likes of Cartier, Mont Blanc, Prada, Bulgari, D&G, Tommy Hillfiger, Oliver Martini, Allan Azzaro, Hans Stepper, Hugo Boss, Tag Heur, Ray Ban, Vogue, and Phillipe Morelle, among others.

Speaking about the launch, Sarat Binani, managing director, Himalaya Optical said, “Through our foray into Gujarat, we intend to contribute to the rapid development of the state by offering the best in eye care services. I am sure that the wide range of national as well as international brands of frames and sunglasses will cater to the different tastes of the people of Ahmedabad. The stores will also offer digital eye testing facilities by trained optometrists and lens consultants trained from the Himalaya training and dispensing centre.”

To cater to the different tastes of the consumers with exclusivity, Himalaya Optical has also introduced sections dedicated for luxury brands of frames and sunglasses like Cartier, Mont Blanc, Prada, Horn N Wood and D&G. The stores will also have an exclusive kids’ section and a dedicated sunglass gallery for customers.

The Himalaya Optical stores in Ahmedabad will offer a wide range of designer eye wear at price starting from '590.

Meanwhile, the company plans to open seven more stores in other parts of the country by the end of the financial year 2010-11. For this, Himalaya Optical intends to invest around '30-40 lakhs per store.
