| Haryana to seek higher funds under JNNURM |

Haryana Finance Minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav has directed the financial commissioner and principal secretary, urban local bodies, that the matter could be taken with the Government of India to increase the allocations under JNNURM and Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT). The finance minister was reviewing the progress of central sponsored schemes with the officers of finance, public health and urban local bodies department. These schemes were being launched in the state for the welfare of all sections of society.
It was appraised in the meeting that the ministry of urban development and poverty alleviation had launched Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission scheme in Faridabad and the ministry had approved a sum of Rs 823.39 crore under the same. Out of this a sum of Rs 308 crore had already been released. He said that a sum of Rs 190 crore had been incurred under the scheme.
While referring to the scheme, Capt Yadav said 50 per cent amount would be provided by the Government of India and 20 per cent by the state government and 30 per cent would be borne by the municipal corporation, Faridabad. The minister said that under the UIDSSMT, a sum of Rs 164 crore had been sanctioned and of this, a sum of Rs 83.14 crore had been received and out of this, a sum of Rs 45 crore had already been incurred.
Referring to the scheme, he said that under it, eight towns of Jagadhri, Yamunanagar, Bahadurgarh, Ambala Cantt, Narnaul, Charkhi Dadri, Indri and Karnal had been covered for providing infrastructure of solid waste management and sewage treatment plant. Referring to the Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme, Capt Yadav said that this scheme costing Rs 262.12 crore had been started in 15 towns of the state and a sum of Rs 131.6 lakh had already been released by the Centre for this purpose so far. A sum of Rs 77.44 crore had already been incurred, he said.
He directed the concerned departments to expedite work on these centrally sponsored schemes. The finance minister also directed the engineer-in-chief of public health and engineering that iron pipe should be laid from the water works to the city or village so that it could not be tempered with and potable water could be ensured to the last house.
