Maruti Suzuki India unveiled their fifth World Strategic Model, Maruti A-star in the Chandigarh market today. Talking to media persons on the sidelines of the car launch, Ankur Sharma, Regional Manager North, Maruti Suzuki India maintained that the slowdown in automobile sector has impacted the sales of Maruti in the north region as well. As compared to 10 per cent volume growth registered by Maruti in North Indian market last year, this year the volume growth has come down to 5 per cent.
Sharma maintained that North India market that comprises states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Utrakhand are important markets for Maruti as they contributes 35-40 per cent of overall sales for Maruti.
Commenting on the new features of Maruti A star , Rakesh Srivastava, General Manager(North), Maruti Suzuki India said the car has been powered bynew, state-of-the-art, light weight, 998cc K10B petrol engine, and is the best in class fuel-efficient car with a mileage of 19.59 kilometers per litre, as tested by ARAI, Pune, country’s premier automotive research agency.
He maintained that positioned in the premium A2 segment, A-Star was targeted towards young professionals.
The A-star would be made in over 200 variants and exported to around 150 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia, Australia and Africa.
